Who's who in the Illinois Green Business Association.

Our board is a great group of people.

We are proud to have a diverse Board with representatives from both Champaign and Urbana. We work with representatives from City Councils, local Business Associations, as well as several private business owners and representatives of our foundational partners, all of whom share a common interest in making Champaign-Urbana a greener place to live.

Here is some information on our Board members:

Mike Royse

President

Mr. Royse is President of One Main Development, LLC. In his role, Mr. Royse works closely with city leaders and partners to ensure the success of each project and the continued growth of One Main Development. He leads the team of professionals at One Main Development, providing strategic direction and support to all areas of the company. He provides leadership with the goal of inspiring out-of-the-box thinking and tearing down perceptive barriers to execution. Creative approaches to design, planning, financing, sustainable performance, and new ways of having fun are a few focus examples. He has served professionally as a business strategist both organizationally and financially, and has been extensively involved with a sixty million-dollar residential property portfolio owned by his family. As CEO of Royse Wagner (a small national branding firm), Mr. Royse consulted on teams leading high growth activities within a variety of industries. His crowning achievement was development of the environmental communications platform for the Winter Olympics in Salt Lake City, 2002.

Tim Montague

Vice President

Tim Montague is the Director of Development for the Beckman Institute at the University of Illinois. He is active on the executive and fundraising committees of the IGBA. Tim’s background includes sales, marketing, communications and fundraising. He is responsible for driving philanthropic and private sector funding for the Beckman Institute. Prior to the UofI, Tim was a corporate relations and fundraising manager in the non-profit sector (Chicago Academy of Sciences Peggy Notebaert Nature Museum; Environmental Research Foundation). He has been a long term advocate for green/local business and entrepreneurship. He is a former ecologist, small business owner, and science writer. His is an active running enthusiast and father of two sons. He lives in Urbana and travels regularly throughout the US.

Don Schlorff

Treasurer

Mr. Schlorff is Executive Vice President of Busey.  His area of concentration is Corporate Administration which includes information security, physical security, business continuity planning, facilities management, sustainability practices, BSA/AML and fraud management, insurance, contract management and corporate project management.  Mr. Schlorff has been involved in several bank related organizations including the Federal Reserve Central Illinois Advisory Group.  He is a past faculty member for the Illinois Bankers School and past Board Member of the Illinois Bankers Operations School.  He has also served as a Board member of Firstech and formerly for the East Central Illinois Workforce Development Commission, has served on the Project Impact Committee for the City of Urbana, and was treasurer of Boy Scout Troop 101 in Champaign for four years.  In addition, Don is a past president of the Champaign-Urbana Chapter of the AIB.  He also chaired the Illini Prairie Chapter of the American Red Cross.  Don is a part-time faculty member of Parkland College where he taught two courses in the AIB curriculum on banking law for 8 years.  Mr. Schlorff lives in Philo, Illinois with his wife, Mary and son Robert.  He enjoys photography, hiking and camping.

David Wilcoxen

Secretary

David B. Wilcoxen is a three-time graduate from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. In 1989, he obtained a Bachelor of Arts in physical geography and received the University of Illinois Bronze Tablet award for graduating within the top 3% of the graduating class. In 1992, he obtained a Masters of Urban Planning with a focus on environmental planning and policy. After obtaining his MUP, he worked as a Fellow with the U.S. Army Environmental Policy Institute until 1995. While at the Institute, he developed environmental program planning and policy recommendations for the Assistant Secretary of the Army for Environment. Mr. Wilcoxen subsequently took his current position with the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign where he co-established the Department of Safety and Compliance. His primary responsibilities at the University are to coordinate the creation and implementation of environmental compliance programs and environmental conservation initiatives. In 1997, he enrolled in the University of Illinois College of Law and received a Juris Doctor degree in May, 2000. Mr. Wilcoxen is admitted to the Illinois Bar and served as a member of the ISBA Environmental Law Section Council from 2001-2009. Additionally, he serves on the Board of Directors of the Land Conservation Foundation for east-central Illinois.

Dick Warner

Dick Warner was appointed as the Director of the Office of Sustainability at Illinois in September, 2008 and retired from the position in 2010. He was Professor of Natural Resource Ecology at the University of Illinois, Urbana-Champaign, as well as the Director of the Illinois Waters Resources Center. He has served in several other research and engagement leadership positions on campus, emphasizing the environment and natural resources. Warner’s research interests include sustainable natural resource management in urban and agricultural settings; human perceptions of conservation programs; the interface of agriculture, water management, disease, and wildlife conservation; and information technologies for economic development and regional food systems.

Carol Timms

As President of Educational Dividends, Carol designs and conducts transformational education programs for the business, government, education and non-profit sectors. On behalf of schools, government agencies, non-profit organizations and business, Carol and her team have developed a wide range of educational products including EnergyNet, Student Power and High Tech Edge.

Charlie Smyth

Charlie is a member of the Urbana City Council (1989-1993, 2005-current). He is also a member of the Urbana Free Library Board since 2000 and is a member or supporter of groups such as the Sierra Club, ACLU, Human RightsWatch, ChampaignCountyBikes.org, Habitat for Humanity, Champaign County Health Care Consumers, WEFT, WILL, Prairie Rivers Network, and the West Urbana Neighborhood Association. He is a twenty seven year resident of Urbana, and a University of Illinois alum and employee (Statistician and IT Professional). Charlie grew up bilingual as son of a military father and immigrant mother, and is an avid bicyclist, camper, organic gardener, and occasional runner, and is a former Urbana Park District volunteer soccer coach and referee.

Rod Fletcher

Rod Fletcher retired from the City of Urbana in 2010 after 35 years of service. The last 28 years he was the Environmental Manager which included a wide range of responsibilities. He was involved in establishing one of the first curbside recycling programs in Illinois and also established Urbana’s Multi-family recycling program. He coordinated the development of the first municipal composting operation in the state and has been involved in household hazardous waste, electronics, and other special recycling collection programs.

He served 2 years on the board of directors for the Illinois Chapter of Solid Waste Association of North America. He also served 6 years on the Board of Directors of the Illinois Recycling Association, serving 5 years as president - the longest serving president in IRA history. He received the Distinguished Service Award and the Lifetime Achievement Award for his leadership and many contributions. Rod has been involved in crafting state legislation for recycling and resource management. He has served on various intergovernmental agencies locally and is recognized by colleagues throughout the state and through the National Recycling Coalition.

In 2008 he became the lead staffer assigned to develop a sustainability plan for Urbana and conducted municipal greenhouse gas emissions inventories and developed preliminary reduction strategies prior to his retirement. Today he is president of Fletcher Consultants whose focus is resource management and sustainability.
