IGBA: Improving the nature of businesses through passion and initiative.

The Illinois Green Business Association (IGBA) is a 501c3 non-profit organization that assists businesses in reducing their ecological foot-print by attaining our green certification. IGBA staff provides three distinct services: green business certification, personalized business services and assistance, and public education.

Our mission is to help businesses realize the environmental and economic benefits of green practices. We seek to achieve a healthier and cleaner environment by educating businesses on integrating environmental responsibility into daily operations in a manner that is sustainable as well as profitable. We educate business owners, employees and community members on green practices in the workplace and promote the health of the local environment by training business owners and employees to be literate in efficient, cleaner, and greener practices.

To achieve our mission, we assess a business’ current environmental performance and guide them towards certification, working with the business owner to discover what applies to them and fits in with their business culture. We utilize applicable incentive packages to help business’ changes become more financially viable. We provide educational resources to train employees and managers.

Once a business is certified, IGBA markets the business’ green efforts to their local community to build a culture of sustainability and encourage responsible consumerism.
